Meet Early Years Educator, Romaissa

Meet Romaissa, who is currently working as an Early Years Educator at Boys and Girls Nursery in Watford.

What inspired you to start a career in Early Years?

I have always enjoyed working with people, especially supporting development and wellbeing. Working with children felt very rewarding to me, and I wanted to be part of their early learning and development. It wasn’t my original career plan, but it became something I am truly passionate about.

Can you describe your journey into early years?

I originally trained and worked as a physiotherapist in Algeria. When I moved to the UK, I decided to start something new and follow my interest in working with children. I wanted to build a new career in Early Years, so I joined the Step2Skills Early Years Bootcamp. This helped me gain the knowledge and confidence to begin working in this field.

How did the Step2Skills Bootcamp support you?

The Bootcamp supported me a lot, especially with one-to-one guidance. They helped me prepare for interviews, and the questions I practiced were very similar to the real interview. This made me feel confident, and I was able to successfully get a job.

I would 100% recommend it. It really changed my life. The team was very supportive, and they helped me secure a job. I’m very grateful to the teachers and the whole team for their help and encouragement.

What are the key things you love about your current job?

I love supporting children’s development and seeing their progress every day. It’s very rewarding to help them learn new skills and grow in confidence. I also enjoy the positive environment and working as part of a team.

What advice would you give to someone looking to work in a similar role?

I would say don’t be afraid to start something new. Be patient, stay motivated, and take opportunities like training or bootcamps to build your confidence. Practical experience and support make a big difference.
