Please can you describe your journey into working in education?
I was a TA for 6 years, I absolutely loved my job but wanted to become a teacher. I completed a degree part time with the Open University. Once my degree was complete, I found it difficult to find salaried teacher training, I decided to attend the Teach in Herts recruitment fair, I met so many lovely school leaders, everyone was so friendly. I found a school looking for an apprentice teacher, I was over the moon, I had almost given up.
What are the key things you love most about your job?
Seeing children make progress both with their learning and socially and emotionally. It’s amazing to be a part of their growth.
What advice would you give to someone who is looking to work in a similar role?
Don’t give up, definitely attend the recruitment fairs to meet lots of schools and training providers.
