Description

High Beeches is a vibrant two-form entry primary school, situated on the eastern side of the pretty town of Harpenden, close to some of Hertfordshire’s most beautiful countryside and yet with London less than 30 minutes away by train.  Having expanded from single to two-form entry relatively recently, we work hard to retain a nurturing family feel for our children and families; but now have the benefits of working in collaborative year group teams.

The school was rated outstanding by OFSTED  for the second time in June 2023.  Our highly successful curriculum promotes independence and creativity and we are always keen to find new ways to engage and challenge our pupils, to ensure they achieve the very best.  The school works closely with families, governors and other schools in the town to ensure that we offer all children a wide range of opportunities within and beyond the taught curriculum.

'There is an exceptionally rich range of opportu nities for pupils’ wider development.'  (OFSTED, June 2023)

Our well established school values are central to the school’s work and, consequently, our pupils are highly engaged and their families are supportive and involved in their children's learning and development.

'Pupils at High Beeches Primary School focus on a different value each half term. Their current focus is on happiness. Pupils display this value from the moment they arrive to the end of the school day. They are, and feel, very safe here. They love to learn and play together.  There is a strong family atmosphere at the school.'  (OFSTED, June 2023)

We have a committed and supportive staff who welcome our commitment to supporting their wellbeing as well as our emphasis on professional development and growing leadership.

'Leaders have ensured that staff are highly moti vated and skilled. Staff value the many professional development opportunities they are offered. Leaders, including governors, consider staff well being. They always bear this in mind when making decisions about the running of the school. Staff are proud to w ork at High Beeches Primary School.'  (OFSTED, June 2023)

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of the children and therefore each post is subject to an enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check, as well as other pre-appointment checks, including an online check.
