Join Our Team at The Collett School
Part of The Blue Tangerine Federation
The Collett School is proud to be part of The Blue Tangerine Federation — a collaboration of innovative, Foundation-status special schools that includes St Luke’s School. Together, we provide specialist education for children with cognitive learning disabilities, helping every pupil achieve, grow, and thrive in a world designed for difference.
About The Collett School
The Collett School is a vibrant, creative, and joyful all-age special school for 128 pupils aged 4–16. Our learners have a range of cognitive disabilities, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN), and Moderate Learning Disabilities (MLD) — and every pupil has an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).
We group pupils by ability and communication needs, not just age, ensuring every child learns in an environment that matches their development and potential. Through our Pathways curriculum, pupils build essential life skills, knowledge, and confidence, preparing them for success and independence in the wider world.
Teaching and Learning
Our school is full of energy, creativity, and collaboration. Teachers and TAs work with pupils across age groups over time, building strong relationships and shared understanding of each child’s journey.
Our treehouse classrooms, specialist teaching spaces, and innovative, holistic approaches enable pupils to make exceptional progress. As a Federation, we are proudly different — and we are united by the belief that every child can shine when given the right opportunities.
We are currently focused on:
Ensuring our curriculum prepares pupils for adulthood and the world of work
Embedding Quality First Teaching across the school
Strengthening professional development (CPD) to meet the evolving needs of our cohorts
The Collett School is rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted, and we are confidently and passionately working towards becoming ‘Outstanding’. We are an oversubscribed, hardworking, and happy school community.
Our Safeguarding Commitment
The Collett School has a strong and vigilant safeguarding culture where every adult takes responsibility for the welfare of our pupils.
All staff and volunteers are subject to rigorous child protection checks, safeguarding training, and ongoing monitoring. Safeguarding is not just a duty here — it’s a shared commitment embedded in every aspect of school life.
We Look Forward to Meeting You
If you’re an inspiring, compassionate, and creative teacher who believes in empowering young people with special educational needs to achieve their fullest potential — we would love you to join us.

Within The Blue Tangerine family, diversity is an integral part of our history, culture, and identity. Inclusion is the way we treat and perceive all differences. We want to create an inclusive culture where all forms of diversity are seen as real value for our schools. We do not discriminate against people regardless of gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, religion, ethnicity, age, neurodiversity, disability status, citizenship, or any other aspect which makes them unique.
