Description

The Collett School is part of The Blue Tangerine Federation. Our Federation is a collaboration of special education schools, all of which have Foundation status. St Luke’s School and The Collett School are special educational needs schools for children with cognitive learning disabilities.

The Collett School is a fab school; full of energy, creativity and passion.  We are an all-age school for 128 pupils aged 4-16 who have cognitive disabilties including autism, speech and language communication needs and/ or moderate learning disabilities.  All pupils have an EHC Plan and are taught in dynamic Learning Groups that are based on ability levels and communication needs.  Working in Pathways curricula, children develop skills, knowledge and understanding that is relevant to their needs and access to our mainstream world, at an appropriate yet stretching level.

Teachers and TAs work with all age groups over time. Our treehouse classrooms, specialist teaching with innovative practices and holistic approaches support each young person to make exceptional progress.  The Collett School is 'proudly different' and we share the federation's vision of each child thriving in our mainstream world with advancing confidence - hence we believe in creating opportunities that ensure our children shine!   Our foci are currently to ensure the curriculum supports every young person with the skills and experiences to equip them for the adult world of work and, to ensure our quality first teaching is embedded with effective CPD to meet the changing needs of our pupil cohorts.  We are an Ofsted 'Good' school, stridently on our way to becoming 'Outstanding'. We are an oversubscribed, hardworking and, happy school!

We are vigilant in our child protection measures and have a strong safeguarding culture, where everyone is responsible and accountable for keeping each child safe. Our child protection and safeguarding measures are rigorously enforced.  All staff and volunteers are subject to our stringent child protection and safeguarding checks, training and monitoring.

We look forward to meeting you!

Ms Jennie Witter (Head of School)

Within The Blue Tangerine family, diversity is an integral part of our history, culture, and identity. Inclusion is the way we treat and perceive all differences.  We want to create an inclusive culture where all forms of diversity are seen as real value for our schools.  We do not discriminate against people regardless of gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, religion, ethnicity, age, neurodiversity, disability status, citizenship, or any other aspect which makes them unique.
