About the role

We are looking for a new part time accountant (circa two days a week) to support the management and trustees across the financial spectrum of controls, insights and planning.

 

The role may suit someone who is comfortable with double entry bookkeeping and compliance as well as having some experience in reporting and analysis.

Duties :

· Participate as part of operational management team in the smooth running of day to day activities of the centre

· Prepare and pay monthly payroll and any subsequent related activities (payment to HMRC, annual P60’s etc)

· Prepare, issue and post sales invoices to parents

· Accurately code, post and pay purchase invoices from suppliers

· Manage online banking

· Prepare month end accounting adjustments as necessary (accruals, prepayments)

· Prepare monthly management accounts (operating statement, cashflow, balance sheet, including key non financial KPIs) with appropriate comparison and analysis against budget and prior years

· Collate management information for the monthly report to Trustees

· Track, reconcile and report on “restricted” reserves in order to maximise efficient utilisation and to raise issues

· Lead the annual budget build process along with input from the management team for presentation to Trustees for approval

· Provide ad-hoc information to stakeholders as required (eg. Background information on pay reviews, information for fundraising applications)

· Preparation of year end accounts and management of auditor and subsequent filing process

 

Skills and experience :

· Experience of management accounts preparation including adjustments and comparisons and narratives

· Decent knowledge of Excel is required but super user level is not required

· Knowledge of Sage is an advantage

· Experience of payroll preparation

· Experience of statutory accounts preparation, audit and regulatory filings

· Part qualified or fully qualified is a plus. However, the Hon Treasurer is a qualified accountant and can provide some additional guidance
