About the role

Welcome to Weston Way Nursery School.  

We have a rare opportunity to join our Weston Way family where we are proud of our 'Home from Home' ethos in the role as Chair of Governors.  This is a voluntary role that is vital to the strategic direction of the setting.  We are looking for someone who is passionate about education in the early years and has the desire to make a real difference to the lives of young children.

The Chair of Governors will take the lead on our governing board working closely with the Headteacher.  Our Chair of Governors will recognise the value in building relationships with our nursery community and support the nursery as it strives for each unique child to have access to a warm, nurturing, safe and enabling environment promoting our school aims: 

Happiness, Opportunities, Magical moments, Engagement

This role will involve attending six full governing body meetings a year, a minimum of three governor visits, a strategy half day, attending relevant training and having regular contact with the Headteacher.   Most workplaces allow release time each year to fulfil a governance role so we would advise speaking to your employer to understand their commitment to supporting you in this role.
