About the role

Recent Ofsted, 'A focus on the well-being of staff and the promotion of sharing best practice means that staff enjoy teaching at the school.'

We are seeking a committed teacher to join our dedicated and friendly staff team; someone who will ensure that our children develop lifelong learning skills and receive education and inspiration in equal measure. We welcome applications from ECT's and experienced teachers.

Whatever stage you are at on your pedagogic journey, training and development is available to help you achieve your career goals.

If you are creative and energetic and ready to play a full part in a school community, St Bernadette School could well be the place for you.  We are proud of our distinct Catholic ethos, which is embedded in the  life of the school and all aspects of the curriculum; nevertheless, if you share our core values, we welcome children and staff of all faiths and none.

We are looking for someone who:

·         is passionate about teaching and learning and committed to delivering an exciting and creative curriculum;

·         is able to work in partnership with parents, staff and Governors;

·         is able to inspire the children they teach to promote progress; and

·         will contribute to the overall development of the school.

St Bernadette School is a friendly, caring place to work and we can offer:

  • A highly motivated, hardworking, creative team of colleagues who are dedicated to enabling our children to achieve their full potential

·         Enthusiastic pupils who enjoy coming to school

·         A strong, collaborative leadership team

·         A good relationship with parents, parish and local community

·         A very supportive and knowledgeable Governing Body

·         A commitment to your ongoing professional development

We insist on the equal treatment of all current and prospective colleagues and will never condone discrimination on the basis of age, disability, sex, sexual orientation, pregnancy and maternity, race or ethnicity, religion or belief, gender identity, or marriage and civil partnership.  St. Bernadette is also equally committed to being an anti-racist organisation. In our relentless efforts to be an anti-racist organisation, we recognise the negative impacts of under representation and lack of diversity in the education system and in all aspects of our society. Therefore, for recruitment into any post, where we have 2 or more candidates of equal merit, candidates with protected characteristics will be given advantage over candidates without such characteristics.

To help us meet our high standards and aspirations of a fully diverse and inclusive workplace, we strongly encourage suitably qualified applicants from all backgrounds to apply and to join us

The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced disclosure from the Disclosure & Barring Service and appropriate references.  Social media searches will also be carried out as part of the Safer Recruitment and Safeguarding requirements for education employment for successful applicants.

Visits to the school are welcomed. Please telephone the school office to make an appointment to meet with the Co-Headteachers. We would love to show you around our school and share our passion for teaching and learning.
