Contract: Term time only + INSET days
Hours: 37 hours per week (Term Time)

About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Family Liaison Officer to join our team at Waterside Academy. This pivotal role will support children and families to overcome barriers to learning, wellbeing, and attendance, ensuring every child is given the best possible chance to thrive.

The successful candidate will:

  • Act as a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL), working closely with the Headteacher and DSL.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with families, particularly those who are hardest to reach.
  • Provide early intervention and tailored support for families experiencing challenges such as financial hardship, domestic violence, and mental health concerns.
  • Deliver therapeutic interventions for children, supporting positive behaviour and wellbeing.
  • Work closely with the SENCo and external agencies to support children with additional needs.
  • Conduct home visits, improve attendance, and signpost families to appropriate services.

About You

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Passionate about improving outcomes for children and families.
  • Empathetic, approachable, and able to build positive relationships quickly.
  • Experienced in safeguarding, child protection, and multi-agency working.
  • Confident in supporting children with social, emotional and behavioural needs.
  • Organised, resilient, and able to manage a varied and challenging workload.

Essential qualifications and training include:

  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
  • DSL training (or willingness to undertake).
  • Experience working with children, families, and safeguarding.
