About the role
Make a Difference in Your Local Community
Maple Grove Primary School is seeking enthusiastic and committed individuals to join our Governing Body. Becoming a school governor is a rewarding opportunity to support the education and well-being of our pupils while contributing to the school's strategic direction.
About the Role
School governors work together as a team to help ensure the school provides the best possible education for its pupils. Governors set the school’s vision and strategic priorities, hold the leadership team to account for educational performance, and oversee the effective use of the school’s resources.
You do not need to be an education expert or a parent of a child at the school. We welcome people from all backgrounds and professions who are passionate about improving outcomes for children. Skills in areas such as finance, HR, education, marketing, legal services, safeguarding, or community engagement are particularly valuable.
What You’ll Gain
The opportunity to contribute to the success of a local school
Experience in leadership, strategic planning, and governance
Training and support to help you succeed in the role
A chance to make a real difference to children and the community
Commitment
Governors usually attend full governing body meetings around 4–6 times per year, along with occasional committee meetings and school visits. Most meetings take place in the evening.
