About the role

MID-DAY SUPERVISORY ASSISTANT (MSA) — TWO WATERS PRIMARY SCHOOL

Post: Mid-day Supervisory Assistant (MSA)

Pay Range: Salary is paid pro rata at HB grade

Working Pattern: Mon-Friday 11.30am - 1.30 pm (term time only)

Contract Type: Permanent

It's all about you (and our pupils)!

Are you patient, positive, and brilliant with children? Two Waters Primary School is looking for a warm, reliable Mid-day Supervisory Assistant to join our team and help make lunchtimes safe, happy and fun for every child on our site.

As a one-form entry community school, you'll quickly get to know every child across the school and become a valued member of the Two Waters family. Working under the guidance of our Senior Supervisory Assistant and Deputy Headteacher, you'll help pupils enjoy their lunch, play well together, and stay safe throughout the mid-day break — and you may sometimes be asked to provide 1:1 support to a pupil with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) during this time.

Your day will include:

  • Supervising pupils in the dining hall, playground and classrooms during the lunchtime period

  • Helping younger pupils with cutlery, seating and table manners

  • Encouraging active, inclusive play and getting stuck into games with the children

  • Managing behaviour calmly, firmly and positively

  • Being alert to pupils' individual needs, including any food allergies, and following our Allergy Safety procedures

  • Administering first aid and reporting any concerns to the Deputy Headteacher, in line with our safeguarding procedures

What we're looking for:

  • A genuine warmth and patience with primary-aged children

  • A calm, confident approach to supervising groups, indoors and outdoors

  • Reliability and a team spirit — you'll be working closely with our SSA and teaching staff

  • A commitment to keeping children safe

No formal qualifications are required, though a paediatric first aid certificate or food hygiene awareness would be a bonus. Full training will be provided, including our annual allergy awareness training.

Prospective candidates are encouraged to apply as soon as possible as we reserve the right to call candidates for interview and appoint before the closing date

Two Waters Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. The successful applicant will be required to undergo an enhanced DBS check and other pre-employment vetting checks.

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and shortlisted candidates will be asked to share any relevant criminal history prior to interview.

The successful applicant will also be subject to enhanced DBS and barred list checks in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education.
