About the role
Samuel Lucas JMI School is looking for two Co-opted Governors to join our Governing Body.
School governors support school leaders at a strategic level with their skills, insights and commitment. Governors are vital to the running of the school and they ensure that the school remains true to their vision and ethos, holds the headteacher to account in relation to the academic progress of the school and performance management of the staff team. Governors also oversee the finances of the school. Our meetings are held in the evenings face to face. There are four Full Governing Body meetings per year with the Governing Body also being split into the Curriculum & Standards Committee and the Resources Committee, each with their own remit. These sub-committees also meet three times a year.
Although it is a voluntary role you will be part of a friendly, proactive and supportive team of governors who contribute greatly to the continued growth and success of the school.
We are looking for someone who has:
· a passion to support every child / young person to achieve in education- committed to ensuring pupil have access to a positive and safe school environment
· people skills and the ability to work well as part of a team- as the role requires regular engagement at governors' meetings and undertaking school visits with school staff and pupils.
· an open and honest outlook, with the ability to remain objective in order to come to balanced decisions.
· Specialist skills would be beneficial to the role but not essential.
Full training and support will be provided therefore no previous knowledge of how an educational setting is organised is required.
