About the role

We are looking for an enthusiastic teaching assistant to join our very skilled and committed team, who is able to demonstrate the ability to work with class teachers to deliver a high level of learning and pastoral support for our pupils to enable them to ‘Aim High’ and reach their full potential.

As a teaching assistant you will be able to support learning across the key stage and will have a personal understanding of the grammar and maths skills that are taught across the KS2 curriculum.

You will be confident to lead small groups of children or pupils on a 1:1 basis where they may have special educational and/or behavioural needs.  There will be aspects of the role that may require pastoral care. You will also have a knowledge of the administrative needs of the classroom and be able to provide this kind of support.  We would also expect you to take ownership of your job role and lead by example.

Key to the role is the ability to adapt to the changing needs of children in a fast- paced environment where resilience, flexibility and team work is essential.

What can we offer?

  • A lovely school with well maintained classrooms and good resources.

  • A collaborative approach to planning and a commitment to staff wellbeing.

  • A genuine commitment to ongoing professional development.

  • A school with high expectations for manners and good learning behaviours.

  • A school that follows the Therapeutic Thinking approach.

  • An additional ‘wellbeing’ day for all staff during term time.

  • Regular meetings and strong communication where staff views are regularly sought.

Existing teaching assistants would love you to join us and say the following about working at our school.  “We are a workplace where children’s wellbeing is at the heart of what we do, there is a genuine awareness of a need for work/life balance and we are the most supportive work family you could ask for”.

Working hours are term time only from 8.45am - 3.15pm.

If you think you may be interested in finding out more about us, please contact the school as visits are warmly welcomed or call to speak to one of our senior team.

Almond Hill is committed to safeguarding children and young people. All post holders are subject to a satisfactory enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.  Online searches will be conducted as part of our safer recruitment procedures.
