About the role
The Governors of Belswains Primary School wish to appoint a Teaching Assistant to work in the classroom supporting children’s learning. We are looking for an enthusiastic, committed and well-organised team player who is able to work under the direction of our class teachers and senior leaders: as well as use their own initiative to support the needs of our pupils.
The role will involve spending the majority of the classroom time working with identified groups of children.
Applicants would ideally have previous experience of working with children or a Level 2 NVQ qualification in Child Care or Supporting Teaching & Learning in Schools (or equivalent). Candidates must able to demonstrate good levels of literacy and numeracy.
The position is term time only plus INSET days, Monday to Friday 08.30– 15:20. (31 hours 40 mins a week). The role will also include time supervising children during their lunch break. The post is initially fixed term for one academic year from September 2025.
The successful candidate will be reliable, enthusiastic and committed to children’s learning. They must be able to demonstrate the ability to move learning forwards, use their own initiative, have excellent behaviour management skills and a flexible approach to their work.
Belswains Primary School is a Steps trained school, using a therapeutic approach to behaviour management and has just been re-confirmed as a 'Good' school by Ofsted in March 2023.
