The Role
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in a school where support staff are an essential part of the learning journey. As our Teaching Assistant, you will work alongside teachers and other colleagues to create an engaging, inclusive and nurturing environment where every child can thrive. You will help children access learning, build confidence and develop the skills they need to succeed, while contributing positively to the wider life of the school.
The hours of work are 8.30am to 3.30pm, Monday to Friday (32.5 hours per week). There may also be opportunities to work additional hours as part of our after-school provision.
Key Responsibilities:
Support children’s learning through individual, small group and whole-class activities, helping to remove barriers and promote progress.
Work closely with the class teacher to prepare resources, support lessons and reinforce learning objectives.
Use your experience of working with children with SEN to provide calm, patient and effective support tailored to individual needs.
Help children regulate emotions, build confidence and develop positive behaviour for learning.
Adapt activities and approaches to ensure children can access the curriculum and participate fully in school life.
Build warm, trusting relationships with pupils, encouraging independence, resilience and self-esteem.
Support children’s social and emotional development, including those who may need additional reassurance or structure.
Assist with observation, monitoring and feedback to help inform next steps in learning.
Contribute to a safe, positive and well-organised classroom and school environment.
Work collaboratively with teachers, parents and other professionals to support the needs of the children.
Take an active role in the wider life of the school and uphold our strong commitment to safeguarding and the welfare of children.
The Person
We are looking for a thoughtful, skilled and caring Teaching Assistant who shares our belief that every child deserves to feel known, supported and inspired. You will bring energy, professionalism and a genuine commitment to helping children succeed, alongside the flexibility and team spirit needed to thrive in a vibrant primary school setting.
We’re Looking For:
Experience of working with children in a school, nursery or similar setting.
Experience of supporting children with SEN, including adapting support to meet individual needs.
A caring, patient and nurturing approach to working with children.
The ability to build positive, trusting relationships with pupils and adults.
Confidence in supporting learning in class, in small groups and on a one-to-one basis.
An understanding of how to encourage positive behaviour, independence and wellbeing.
The ability to work effectively as part of a team and follow the direction of the class teacher.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
A flexible, proactive and reflective approach to daily school life.
A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
