Volunteer School Governor opportunity at Hobbs Hill Wood Primary School

Make a Difference in Your Local Community

Hobbs Hill Wood Primary School is seeking enthusiastic, skilled and community-minded individuals to join our Governing Body.

You do not need to be a parent of a child at the school. We welcome applications from local residents, business professionals, public sector employees, community leaders and anyone who is passionate about education and helping young people thrive.

As a governor, you will play a vital strategic role in supporting the school's continued success and ensuring every child receives the very best education possible.

Hobbs Hill Wood Primary School is a lively, caring and successful school where staff, governors and families work together to create a happy, structured environment in which children are encouraged to achieve their very best academically, socially and personally.

What Does a School Governor Do?

Governors work alongside the Headteacher and Senior Leadership Team to:

·         Help shape the school's vision and strategic direction

·         Support and challenge school leaders to achieve the best outcomes for pupils

·         Monitor educational performance and progress

·         Oversee financial management and use of resources

·         Ensure accountability, safeguarding and good governance

The role is strategic rather than operational and provides an excellent opportunity to contribute your professional expertise for the benefit of local children and families.

We Are Particularly Interested in People with Experience In:

·         Finance or accountancy

·         Human resources

·         Marketing and communications

·         Property, estates or health & safety

·         IT, digital technology or cyber security

However, enthusiasm, commitment and a willingness to learn are equally important.

Time Commitment

·         9 governing body meetings per year

·         Participation in occasional committees, school visits or training

·         Most meetings are held in the evening

Full induction and ongoing training will be provided.
