About the role
We are seeking a reliable, friendly, honest and hardworking Caretaker to join our team and help look after our lovely school and grounds. This is an important role that involves a range of duties, including ensuring the safe and secure opening and closing of the school, and supporting the upkeep and maintenance of the buildings and site in line with all health and safety requirements.
This is a full-time, flexible hours role, working Monday to Friday, with a maximum of 37 hours per week. The salary will be dependent on experience. From time to time, you may be required to vary your hours to support school events – these additional hours will be paid as overtime or offered as time off in lieu.
The role includes 24–29 days of annual leave (excluding public holidays), depending on length of service.

Has good literacy, numeracy and basic IT skills

Possesses general DIY and decorating skills

Is confident in using domestic power tools for minor repairs and maintenance tasks

Can maintain positive working relationships with staff, contractors and visitors

Applies common sense and a ‘can do’ attitude to their day-to-day responsibilities
Previous experience as a caretaker within an educational setting would be an advantage, but is not essential as full site-specific training will be provided.
The successful applicant will be subject to an enhanced DBS check in line with our safeguarding policies. This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act, and all convictions (including cautions and bind-overs) must be declared.
