About the role

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, adaptable and confident Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join our hardworking and supportive team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys working across all phases in the school, can build positive relationships with pupils and is able to lead whole‑class learning.

The successful candidate will:

  • Work independently with small groups of children and deliver intervention programmes

  • Support the mental health and wellbeing of pupils with empathy and sensitivity

  • Demonstrate flexibility to meet the varied needs of pupils and the changing demands of the school day

  • Communicate clearly and positively with parents

Role Responsibilities

You will provide high‑level support to teachers and pupils across the school, including:

  • Covering classes independently for PPA and staff absence, following programmes of work

  • Preparing for teaching by discussing outcomes with class teachers and ensuring planning and resources are ready

  • Maintaining strong behaviour management and positive routines throughout the day

  • Assessing pupils’ work and feeding back to class teachers

  • Greeting children at the start of the day and ensuring a safe, calm dismissal at the end of the day

  • Delivering small‑group and individual intervention programmes, including some 1:1 support

HLTAs at Goffs Oak are not assigned to a single class or year group; you will work across the school.

This is a 37.5 hour permanent contract. The working hours would be; 8:30am – 3:30pm Monday to Friday, term time only.
