The training route and qualifications you'll need will depend on your experience, qualifications and whether you want to teach in primary or secondary education.

Experience working with children, whether through paid employment or volunteering, can be helpful, but there are a variety of routes into teaching for career changers. Patience, communication skills and a commitment to helping children succeed are key qualities for the profession.
